Eveline Trines has a Master’s Degree in Environmental Forestry and over 21 years of working experience in forest management certification, project development, sustainable forest management, project management and inspections, and climate change issues. The 1st 8 years her career she spent predominantly in Latin America and Africa working on sustainable forest management projects and certification. During the last 11 years the prime focus of her work has been on climate change issues: in particular related to LULUCF and now REDD, developing country issues under the UNFCCC process, including adaptation, and project work. Employers have included: the private sector (including international certification bodies), the UN, IPCC, various Dutch Ministries (Foreign Affairs, Environment and Agriculture & Nature), environmental agencies (Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, Winrock International, Plant Research International, etc.) and research institutes. In addition, she worked as LULUCF programme officer for the secretariat of the UNFCCC from COP 4 up until COP 8, including those that led to the Bonn Agreement at COP 6 and COP 6bis assisting chairmen and COP presidents. After that she was the Dutch lead negotiator on sinks until COP 9. Since December 2002 she runs Treeness Consult and as of autumn 2008 her company has merged with Emmer Internationaal, in what is now called Silvestrum.
