Most recent assignments include:

1. Merge the VCS standard with the AFOLU Guidance resulting in a VCS 2008 version that also covers AFOLU projects.  In addition, 2 tools and a new guidance document have been prepared and the Program Guidelines for the VCS have been updated.  New versions to be released in Q4 of 2008.  Work commissioned by the VCS.

2. Develop a methodology to reduce emissions from deforestation in an area in Papua New Guinea by introducing Sustainable Forest Management to the local clans/land owners to prohibit the transfer of logging rights from landowners to logging firms.  This is part of the “Kyoto: Think Global, Act Local” project (www.communitycarbonforestry.org) commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.

3. Study: “Investment Flows and Finance Schemes in the Forestry Sector, with particular reference to Developing Countries’ needs”.  A report for the Secretariat of the UNFCCC, date final report 24 July, 2007.

4. Project manager of international team of 9 experts to prepare a report presenting policy options how to include agriculture, forestry and other land use in future climate regimes.  Report completed as scheduled in October 2006;

5. Preparation of report for the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency describing how sinks could be integrated in the EU Emissions Trading System.  Report due October 2006.

6. Provide Technical Assistance in the development of the project design for 2 CDM small-scale afforestation projects on Sulawesi, Indonesia, funded by the ADB.  Report confidential;

7. Development of strategy for DGIS for the ministry of FA how to “climate-proof” Dutch development cooperation.  Report confidential;

8. Providing technical assistance to the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina to introduce Sustainable Forest Management in Sarajevo and Srpska Šume.  Project completed successfully with 2 FSC certified forest Districts; reports available from SGS;

9. Assist the Dutch Ministry of FA during the Dutch EU presidency with the negotiations on carbon sequestration of forestry projects in Bolivia (Noël Kemmpf Climate Action developing country issues, technology transfer, etc.;

10. Verification of Programme), Tanzania and Uganda (FACE foundation).  Project documentation Bolivia available

11. Analysing abatement costs of sinks CDM projects.  Report available;

12. Organise a workshop on the possible role of LULUCF in future climate regimes for the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture and Nature, including the preparation of a background paper.  Report available; and,

13. Advise the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency on how to promote sustainable forest management in the Amazon under a climate regime.  Report available.
