Fieldwork Indonesia 2006
The Asian Development Bank has funded a capacity building project in Indonesia, building capacity regarding the CDM. Two small-scale forestation projects were the result and Winrock International assisted with the preparation of the project design documents. Before submitting their methodologies to the Executive Board of the CDM they invited Treeness Consult to perform an internal audit on the project and its documentation so it would be in the best possible state by the time the projects would be formally submitted for registration. The pictures below give a small sample of some of the fieldwork. Two project sites are located on Sulawesi and one of them was visited by Eveline Trines as a sample of the both. |

A number of farmer groups together have 650 ha to reforest. Today they came out to the longhouse of the leader of one of the farmer groups to talk with the audit team and the project people: they are eager to move forward and wanted to find out what the situation is! Here, one of the farmers is explaining the team the importance of this project and that they should hurry with their work! |

The lunch is prepared on the spot by a number of the farmer wives: at least worth 2 Michelin stars.

There’s no such meeting without a good lunch! The platform is built over the fish pond so any leftovers go overboard! But with this delicious food the fish didn’t get much!
This is a seven-year old plantation: a “keboon” (behind Mr. Rizaldi Boer and Mr. Abu Nawas). Most of the time the keboon is a mix of timber species and fruit trees. But mostly fruit trees, cacao being a very popular one.

This is what it looks like now…. And this is what it can look like in a number of years…. |
